Calling Sense 3 Beta Testers, who's in?

I have a backup problem at the moment and am sure whether this is just a problem at my end or with the Beta SW, so I'm posting here first.

I have just bought a new backup drive, a 2TB USB-C drive connected by a USB-C to USB-A cable which works fine on my Macs and has thus allowed me to make sure the disc is formatted XFat as required by the Statement. The drive LED comes on so power is getting through and the port is probably working OK but the Innuos Statement can't see it.

The Backup utility works fine for the old NAS.

The problem I was having with the disappearing Streamers was solved very ably by Daniel in a remote session last Friday - it appears the beta installation didn't delete some old LMS plugins.

So, maybe we have a similar problem here for the USB drive. Is Backup to USB working fine for everyone else using the beta?
This may be a separate known issue - we have found on the STATEMENT that some USB drives cannot get sufficient power from the USB of the mainboard - have you tried connecting the Backup USB drive to the dedicated Reclocked USB DAC output? This has its own 5v rail so can more reliably power different USB drives.
I'll investigate regarding the radio stations.

One more question about the groups: how is the "Sync volume across all players in this group" feature expected to work when players are connected in different ways? I have my main Amplifier connected directly from the Innuos player and therefore set at 100% to be bit perfect with the volume controlled at the Amp level, and some other active speakers connected in other rooms by Airplay (using the Airplay bridge LMS plugin) where the sound volume is controlled either manually on the speakers or through Innuos Sense, so the volume on those is never at 100% and varies on the Sense display. I found that changing the volume on the main Amp does not seem to change the volume on the other speakers. (Although in my first test it had seemed to work but that may have been a coincidence of volume being at "compatible" levels).
When it comes to fairly comparable multiroom systems, my experience is when you change the volume physically on the device itself within one zone, it will only affect that zone rather than the entire network-grouped zone.

Thanks Stephen!

I have tried the "USB" and "Backup" spockets and the behaviour is the same on both. Strangely, with the USB DAC socket (which I have never used before, since I only use Naim streamers and not a standalone DAC), the USB plug will not go in all the way and the LED on the drive does not come on. I have tried several leads now and the result is the same. They all plug in "all the way" on the other sockets...

SHould I put this through as a service request?

Installed 3.2.03 with a few hiccups.

The Statement failed to fully reboot upon restart. At this point it was visible to my.innuos but could not be connected to by either the web interface or iOS App.

I restarted it and it again failed to boot completely (light stayed white) and could not be connected to by Sense.

So I shut it down, switched it off at the mains and let it sit for a few minutes. It then started and booted successfully. I selected the Naim Streamers in the system settings (this had to be done from scratch) but they did not show as available players and I again got the no DAC connected message. Another reboot and all was well.

So don't despair if you don't hit bullseye immediately with 3.2.0.3....

I had a mild hope that the USB backup problem might be resolved withe update, but it's still no-go

Also installed 3.2.03 on my Zen 3. Also had a few hiccups of the 'no DAC connected' variety, but eventually resolved.

Tidal streaming is ok. For locally stored music, FLAC files play as normal, while other file types (WAV, AAC etc) won't play at all.

Any idea what might be causing this?

FWIW WAV files are playing fine on my Naim ND555 and Atom HE from the Statement.

On the other hand my MacBook is unable to connect to the Statement over the network. Restarting both made no difference. The Statement is connected to the network, however, and able both to connect to Qobuz and backup to the NAS (using internal storage of a Roon Nucleus for this since the USB backup is not working).

Just letting everyone know this applies to Macs as well.....
An important thing to note is that this will also be true for any systems currently monitoring one of our servers as a NAS, including Sonos or Bluesound systems. After this update goes out, permission will subsequently be denied and the folder will need to be re-added in those apps with the guest/innuos credentials added.

Sometimes Sense loses track of the Naim Streamers after it has been shut down.

Going back through the settings restores them (though they are still there as selected previously).

Occasionally, when doing this, the "This System" infromation is not displayed properly in Audio Settings, like this.....

Sadly there's something unstable going on here. It's now impossible to connect to the Streamers. They show in the settings but will not play and when I have selected something to play the Streamers are no longer shown, just the no DAC connected message. This is what happened before (3.2.0-2) only it could be a different cause. Then it was old LMS drivers that had not been updated when installing the latest InnuOS beta, but since things were working initially this time (with 3.2.0-3 albeit a troublesome install) it is perhaps something else, although related to the same drivers. Have contacted Daniel in Service.

Updated also smoothly to 3.2.0-4. My questions regarding groups remain (once a player is in a group, it cannot be accessed separately and I have to delete the group first, which is not very intuitive). Furthermore the iPhone app does not display the active player when you press the 3 dots (see attached screenshot)IMG_7902.png

Phantom Streamer showing up: Updated to beta 3.2.0-4 today. In addition to a ZenMini I have on the network a WiiM streamer (named "Kitchen"). It is somehow now listed twice under Audio Players, but is seen only once in the UPnP Network Streamers. Both "Kitchen" audio players work and seem to behave as though they are two separate players, even though there is one physical WiiM. I have tried restarting the WiiM and the ZenMini but cannot get rid of one of the players. I am using the "Use compatibility mode"- at least on the one streamer I can configure. Any thoughts on removing the phantom?

I think the WiiM works as an LMS/Squeezelite endpoint. Therefore it ay show as as Player through Squeezelite and again as a UPnP device... If so, you pay want to disable WiiM as a UPnP device as you get it "natively" through Squeezlite. The same would apply if you have the AirPlay Bridge plugin...

sorry for typos: ... it may show... and ... you may want....

Thank you guardajoias. Yes, removing the WiiM from UPnP devices leaves me with a single Player. I guess I would need to figure out how to access Squeezelite to change the name or configuration (which I don't currently need to do because it all works fine)

Glad it works! You can change the name and configuration of the WiiM squeezelite player through the web interface of the Innuos: go to my.innuos.com and type return, then add :9000 to the URL to access the interface. In the Player Settings, you can choose the WiiM player, and access its parameters including its name.

No sound at all after I boot up the Zen mk3 and the Accuphase E-5000 with Dac-60 optional plugin module.
The dac does not lock to the signal.
The dac is recognized in Sense.
Have to unplug the usb and connect again, voila music!
This is the only way to make it work.
I’m on 3.2.0-4 now. But I don’t exactly know when this problem was introduced since I have swapped dacs during the last few weeks.
The problem occured for the first time with the Norma Revo dac 2. I had it for a week or so without any problems.
Then I had to unplug and plug in the usb cable every time at start up.
Now I have replaced the Norma dac to the dac-60 plugin module for my Accuphase E-5000 amp.
I still have the same problem every time…..

You cannot pause and then continue with Naim streamers. Clicking unpause changes the play icon and the progress bar starts adavancing but no music plays. You have to start the track again.

This should not be necessary - if you return to the 'group view' with all its containing players, if you simply tap on the X beside a player it will instantly be removed from the group, and should return again as its own single player in the list of available zones.
