Open Scheduled Power On/Off

In the spirit of trying to do whatever is possible to reduce power consumption/carbon emissions etc, it would be great to incorporate a power saving feature through scheduled or automated power on/off of Innuos devices if left idle or after a particular configurable time of day.

At the previous feedback zone I added the fact I keep forgetting turning off my zenith. Would use an auto power off after X time function.

I agree that this would be a great feature, but as a sort of stand-by mode. It would defenitely be added value if the device could be switched on again from within the Sense app and webbrowser.

Fortunately, that should not really be necessary; this kind of feature would likely exist just on a software level.
We could explore the option of an Auto-standby when the system is idle after X amount of time.
As for turning the system on via an app, this would essentially require Wake-on-LAN which we have quite a cautious view on. It's very network-dependant in terms of reliably working, and is prone to unexpected behaviour. NAS drives, for example, can trigger the system to wake up etc.
We certainly do recognise the desire for easier on/off which is why there will be an IR remote that can do this for STREAM series,

In terms of a remote control, unfortunately not. There are no IR receivers or Bluetooth on devices like the Mk3, so all commands must come from the network. There have been third-party remotes in the past that would actually support this, but suspect these would all be discontinued and unavailable by now.

Just having a remote will be a nice convenience. My Streamer is in an enclosed cabinet behind mesh doors.

I use a Logitech Harmony Elite Remote Control, Hub and app. This is one of the models that will continue to be supported through the MyHarmony website or the Harmony mobile application.

I am not sure if MyHarmony is still accepting manufacturer remote codes but it would be amazing if innuos could check with them. I believe there is a way the Harmony can "Learn" commands from the Stream remote but I've never done it and would obviously prefer the easy way.

But yes, the FLIRC request would perhaps make more sense that would address our system that do not have built-in IR sensors, and then allow the use of more universal IR remotes so long as they have the right codes. I would need to discuss the technical feasibility of this, however. I do believe we considered this at one stage and unfortunately had to dismiss it.

Could this be incorporated in to the Sense App? The App already allows the user to “switch off” ( I do use this) the unit so an additional option to set an idle time limit before auto-switch off seems like a possibility. In addition What about a configurable “auto-on” option in the software when the Sense App is opened?

BUT,.at least I, am ALWAYS looking for the best possible sound quality.
AND,.you yourself at InnuOs say that the clocks in your products need about 24 hours to warm up,.in order to deliver the highest possible musical sound quality.

I find that my Statement NG even needs a little longer than that,.to "start singing" 100 percent musically optimal after being turned off for a while.
SO,.how does this fit in with turning
off your InnuOs products.
I am ABSOLUTELY NOT looking for,.to save some electricity..!!
I am looking for,.to get the highest possible musical sound quality from my investment in an InnuOs product.

We recommend the switch on the back of the Statement and Statement NG to be kept on all the time with exception if you need to move it or turn it off for a long period. This keeps the capacitors charged as well as both OCXO clocks for USB and Ethernet properly warmed up and stable. The motherboard itself is turned off and is not consuming power this way.

Yes,.I know that the Statement NG's powersupply also "powers" the clocks, even if the streamer box is turned off.

I think mostly when you have a "one-box solution".
If you turn off a Zen,.Zenith and so on, you also turn off the clock/clocks.

That's when the problem arises that I describe in my previous post above.
It takes a very looong time before the InnuOs device delivers 100 percent musical soundquality again.

SO,.I actually don't understand that this "feature" that the thread is about, is even requested by anyone.

The same applies to all systems. Providing the rear power switch is not OFF, then the OCXO clocks on the output module are kept powered for optimal performance.

I have had both Zen and Zenith mk3,.but forgot that they apparently also have a power switch on the front.

General rule of thumb for any system that has a output featuring OCXO clocks is to be on for 24 hours or so.

Yes,.I have also confirmed that through listening tests.
But I think you misunderstand me,.or maybe I you.

The question was:
My Statement NG powersupply is turned on all the time with the power switch on the back.
It also powers the OCXO clocks,.even if the streamer box is turned off.

How long does it take from turning on the streamer box on the front power switch,.which has been turned off, but the rest as I said above is turned on...
Before the unit delivers at peak performance again.?
