What would you like to see on new Innuos products?

I don't understand the need some people have for a display...

You control everything via Sense from,.for example, your mobile phone.
AND,.most of you probably sit more than two meters from your InnuOs device, then you still can't see what's on the display.

When listening to internet radio I want to know on occasion which artist and what song is playing on the streamer, but my MacBook goes to lock screen, I lose quick access to Sense (via Safari) and so I miss that information. I recently had an eye test and new glasses which helps reading subtitles on the TV or streamer display screen.

As someone with a visual impairment I cannot see the case for a screen at all. The app on an iPad works brilliantly. I’ve yet to see any screen work as well. They’re hard to view from across room and the screen reflections are awful. You may as well install a blinding mirror.

A physical remote with basic controls (play, pause, prev, next) would be great. Connected via some sort of bluetooth usb dongle to the back of innuos device. Something like the optional remote Bluesound offers.
Unlocking your phone to open an app just to press the pause button is cumbersome.

Your suggestion feels completely unnecessary to me.

I have my mobile "open" all the time I play and listen to music.
It is my remote control from which I control my InnuOs.
I don't need anything more,.a physical remote would just be untouched in the box.

The request here was what users think is really usefull to have. For example, you might think it is not needed but on the other hand I do not understand how users would always have their iphone or ipad open all the time when playing music. In any case you always need to unlock an ipad or iphone even it is relatively quick. A physical remote is always the quickest to pause music. In any case let us move on and I standby my request. Lumin, Bluesound, Linn have physical remotes for a reason (optional in some cases).

Attest time a phone is both distracting and I first have to unlock and fire up the app. I find myself most often blindly picking up the receiver remote and adjust the volume.

Also I requested this before but the thread was locked; but at like a party I don’t like handing out my phone. A remote makes sense then as well.

Much more than a touchscreen on the device itself, speaking for myself. I find that, too, distracting. But to each their opinion.

We are hoping to explore the option of lockscreen controls on your smart device, so you would basically have this kind of instant-access playback control if your smart device is nearby without having to unlock your whole device and reconnect the Sense app. Would this be sufficient?

IMHO this would certainly be a very welcome software feature. And, I might add, it would potentially bring back Apple Watch integration that was lost when Sense moved away from full LMS compatibility. But I get it. Physical remotes are convenient, simple, and tactile. Nevertheless, a physical remote should also be able to switch to different players/outputs/sources, mute, hibernate/sleep the streaming server, or shut it down completely - if that makes sense.

Hi Stephen, yes I think this would be useful, I have this option with the Qobuz app, handy not having to wake up phone.

Yes, lock screen controls is sorely missing. iPeng had it, Qobuz has it, pretty much all music apps do and for a reason. It is useful. That would be a great upgrade to the Sense app.

Going completely wild here, but what about the possibility of the lower end server product having a line level analogue input. It would allow users to stream from their record turntable to other zones in the property. Making the input line level will remove the need for a MM or MC step up device in the server and also offers the possibility to use the analogue input for TV, DVD player, tape recorder or FM radio tuner (or CD player, but why when you could rip the disk?).

It would call for the server to have an A to D converter in the hardware, and there would be some use of buffering RAM/temporary file space in the server. Alternatively, a USB input could be repurposed to enable the A to D converter to be an external add-on device.

I don't think I would want to try to add software to record the LP onto the hard drive. It's too hard to cut a side of the LP into separate tracks, filter noise or add meta data by hand. Folk who want to do that probably have worked out how to do it with their PC/laptop in any case.

It would be a unique product feature, something that is not be done with a NAS drive as a music store.

Hi Nuno,

Is it already obvious to you that an entry-level unit must be able to stream music from a Zen/Zenith library? If not, please think again.

It should have AirPlay2 and BT5 receivers. Personally, I don’t think I will have a use case for UPnP or DLNA, but other folks do.

It needs single ended analog outputs, and S/PDIF (at least optical) would be very welcome.

Do keep in mind that any ZEN/PULSE series can indeed be an endpoint to a main Innuos server/library, and PULSEmini/ZENmini do already come with RCA and SPDIF outputs.
The good news is that Airplay is being worked on so that should become available in the future.
All that leaves is Bluetooth - that might be more of a point of contention for us based on current design philosophy! But, never say never

HI all. I would add my vote for the addition of some form.of direct control in the event of a WiFi outage. This has happened to me and can be very frustrating. Visitors to my house have always commented on a lack of screen though personally I have never found this an issue due to the excellent control via my tablet.
