You may recall that in mid to late last year we teased an upcoming remote control accessory. We are pleased to share that it is now very close to launch.

This remote control will be available exclusively for the STREAM series.

Please see the remote below, annotated with its various functions. If you have any questions, feel free to let us know :) .

Battery powered or rechargeable via usb?
Good point! It is 2 x AAA batteries, USB charging is usually reserved for things like Bluetooth remotes, whereas this is an IR one which makes it more energy efficient by comparison, the batteries would last a good long time.

Volume control. What does that work on? Does it work in the digital domain or is there actually some type of circuitry to turn the volume up and down? So can a stream3 with a phoenix DAC module also be used as a pre-amplifier to direct drive an amplifier?

Just having a remote will be a nice convenience. My Streamer is in an enclosed cabinet behind mesh doors.

I use a Logitech Harmony Elite Remote Control, Hub and app. This is one of the models that will continue to be supported through the MyHarmony website or the Harmony mobile application.

I am not sure if MyHarmony is still accepting manufacturer remote codes but it would be amazing if innuos could check with them. I believe there is a way the Harmony can "Learn" commands from the Stream remote but I've never done it and would obviously prefer the easy way.

With Harmony discontinued and continuing support an unknown, I am beginning to research other remote options. One that looks promising but is not ready yet in my opinion is unfolded Circle Remote 3. It is wireless based but has an IR module. If the Stream remote code could be provided to unfolded, the Circle 3 would be even more promising.

I got the unfolded remote already working; with volume control, cover art, the lot. Through the Lyrion integration. It’s not perfect though; can’t browse radio or playlists. And it doesn’t require line of sight like IR does. But it’s not officially supported and no telling if they keep using Lyrion….

It will control the already adjustable digital volume in Sense. Of course for optimal performance its best left alone and kept at 100% as it is a digital volume control, however is there for added convenience. Many users opt to use it with active speakers for instance.

An important thing to note also is that DSD cannot have its volume altered in the digital domain, it would have to be converted/transcoded to a PCM signal to be able to do this. This is not unique to Innuos but simply the nature of how DSD works, so if you have a lot of DSD files that you want to play fully natively, then Sense has to output at 100% to the DAC, whether it be the internal one or an external one. The volume would have to be attenuated by an external analogue hardware-based volume control.
