I actually thought the same thing....Maybe a question that either "hope nobody asks" or "whoops did not know Roon would show that?"
Like other Forum members, it will be interesting to read the answer.

that‘s nonsense. only want to know for what I spend my money.I’m sure we're all on tentnerhooksSo we like the DAC performance but not what it’s called ?

We collaborated with M2Tech before with the 'L1' DAC as found in the ZENmini/PULSEmini, so we have done so again with the PerformanceDAC. They provide some exclusive designs to us which does include elements like custom firmware and controller (which is why you see it listed like that in Roon) but as you can see in this picture taken by HiFi Pig in their recent factory tour, the module overall is Innuos-fabricated - not 'bought-in':ist the Performance Dac a bought-in module from the italian manufacturer Manunta/M2Tech
Glad you like the DACthat‘s nonsense. only want to know for what I spend my money.
thank you for the informationPatience

Then of course a very large part of the overall benefit to it is the power supply architecture where we again collaborated with Dr Sean Jacobs.
I think the end result is a very good one in terms of sound quality![]()
No, I am not stupid, but what would you have thought if you had seen this? The module cost over 1000,-- Euro, for that you can get an external DAC like a Chord or Merason.....Did you really think Innuos would make their own DAC chip? What counts is how the DAC chip is implemented in the design of the module. I think what Roon shows as the endpoint depends on the software in the endpoint, the manufacturer probably can make it appear as anything they like.
Hmm, yes and no, depending on your priorities and on certain perspectives. Is the Pulse a better option for me than the new Stream 1?
Thanks for the reply.Hmm, yes and no, depending on your priorities and on certain perspectives.
The PULSE will generally cost you less and be very straight-forward to fit - just put it in Roon Endpoint mode, connect it to the Holo. Done! It will give a very pleasing sound.
The STREAM1 has more potential, however. The PhoenxUSB module could be added for an even better output to the Holo. And with the LPS1 as well, you have something that in total would sound better than the PULSE. So, this could be more of a system-builder or upgrade over time consideration.
Not to mention the fact that the STREAM1 can also take over as the Roon Core, meaning you would not even need the Nucleus anymore, which would minimise and simplify the overall setup.
So to clarify, the Nucleus is the source in your main hi-fi system? If you are using it as your streamer with USB output to a DAC, I would be very surprised if the STREAM 1 or Pulse did not outperform it, meaning you could then move the Nucleus to your HeadFi system. Thanks for the reply.
I would always keep the Nucleus as it is downstairs in my speaker rig so I see where you are coming from but using it as a Roon Core is not something I would consider.
The USB module is prpbably a stretch too far for me as this is just in my headphone set up, but I agree its nice to have options as who knows what I will want in the future.
To me now the only real question is of the power supplies. The Pulse power supply is built by someone very good at it from what I have read so not sure if the new one in the Stream 1 will be a great deal better for sound. Also the Pulse is just one box with the LPS alreday in it . This suits me I think as opposed to two boxes.
Also assume I could get a good deal on the Pulse as its a discontinued model. A lot to consider.
Thanks again for your input, much appreciated.

Connect will not work in Roon mode, so you would need to switch the system mode back to Sense whenever you want to use that feature. This can be done via the system mode page in the Sense app.
If it helps, most users typically find that Sense offers much improved sound quality over Roon. Its commonly discussed, heres one example - https://community.innuos.com/threads/potential-new-customer.176/post-1026Yes the Nucleus is downstairs in my Speaker system.
Bizarrely now though 95% of my music listening is through my headphone set up as I just prefer it now. I never thought I would say this but I do.
So it is the headphone system I am looking to upgrade.
Its a bit of a blow that Connect will not work in Roon mode, but I guess I dont know how much of a pain this may be as I dont know how good the Sense app is.
It may be that I use Roon less in my headphone set up. Infact I am finding I am doing this a bit now.
I will try and find some vidoes and tutorials about the Sense app to see if I like the look of it.
Once again thanks, much appreciated.

We have many articles on using Sense via our support section, but of course we're here to help if you have any specific questions - https://innuos.com/support/
@Stephen Healy using the Stream1 as Roon Core, would it be more powerful or at the same level of performance as for an example the Nucleus One from Roon? And would be the Stream3 in that regard a different beast or the same as Stream1 (as used as Roon Core)?Hmm, yes and no, depending on your priorities and on certain perspectives.

The STREAM1 and STREAM3 are the same when it comes to the processing side of things; they use the same CPU and same amount of RAM so there is no difference here. The difference instead comes entirely from the power supply, the chassis, and the range of output modules.@Stephen Healy using the Stream1 as Roon Core, would it be more powerful or at the same level of performance as for an example the Nucleus One from Roon? The Sense app is user-friendly, responsive, stable, and provides excellent sound quality. Innuos continues to add new features and further refine the app over time. Fwiw, I find it superior to Roon. It's a shame that although professional reviews of Innuos hardware abound, none include a review of this excellent software, at least that I'm aware of.I will try and find some vidoes and tutorials about the Sense app to see if I like the look of it.
