Presets
Another key way in which we are making it easier to get the music playing is with the introduction of Presets.

Picture
This is a new widget that will be found on the home tab, with 10 preset slots that are numbered 0 to 9 (more on that later!)

To these presets you can assign:
  • Playlists
  • Radio Stations
  • Smart Mixes
You can identify what type of music is assigned to the preset number by the corresponding icon it's labelled with, so for example the radio icon to denote a radio preset and so on.
You will know when a music source can be added to a preset by this new ‘Add to preset’ icon as seen here, highlighted in the red circle:

Pressing this icon will bring you to the menu from where you can choose which number you would like to assign this preset to:

The preset widget itself can be edited on the homescreen, allowing you the option to change the order of which music source is assigned to which number, or to just delete/clear/empty one of the preset slots altogether.

Why are the presets numbered 0-9? Because with the new Stream series that will support control with IR remotes, you can now simply use that remote to turn the Stream on, then press a numbered button to begin playing music that you assigned to that number.

Are you a big fan of BBC Radio 3? Then you can assign that to preset 3 for easy memory and just get that station playing through the single press of one button.

This does also create a possibility where if your network router were to fail completely (meaning no WiFi or local network at all), as long as you had a preset with a smart mix or playlist containing local files then you could still play this music just from using the IR remote.

Here is a short clip of the preset creation process:

A crucial part of the usefulness of the Presets is the expansion of Smart Mixes.

When creating a new Smart Mix you will be presented with two options:
  • Album Mix based on a choice of album filters
  • Artist Mix based on a choice of artists
The mixes that could be generated out of the Albums view by applying filters (resolution, tags, source type etc) can now be permanently saved as shortcuts into the Smart Mixes section found in the MUSIC tab. This fulfils another frequently requested feature of having shortcuts to pre-filtered views or ‘bookmarks’ of your library. The fact that these can then be assigned to a Preset on the HOME tab make these now even quicker to reach and start playing from.

We have also expanded Artists Mixes, meaning you can now select multiple artists to compile into a Smart Mix, and permanently save that mix to the library and have it accessible from Presets for quick access.

Here is a video showing the creation of Smart Mixes in Sense 3.3:

This makes it easy to now create more themed and personalised subsections and categorisations of your library and rapidly begin playing a selection of music from here.
These mixes also may serve as a much more efficient solution to have themed groupings of artists/albums compared to manually compiling lengthy playlists that can go on for many hundreds (or thousands!) of tracks.

Combined with SmartQ, this feature now makes it significantly easier to just press ‘Play’ and let Sense do the rest.

Thanks for reading!

That covers the main benefits of Sense 3.3 in what I hope will be a good quality update for everyone.
What would you like to see next? Make sure to share your thoughts over on Product Chat section, or take another look over at the Feedback Zone and cast your votes and requests there.

Things are progressing at breakneck speed at Innuos HQ, with the imminent launch of the new Stream series which embodies new ideas from the ZEN Next-Gen and trickles them down to (and replaces) the price point of Mk3 and PULSE to simplify our product range and reduce the number of options in the family tree, whilst also unveiling our new ultra-high-end flagship, Nazaré, at Munich this weekend!

Wishing you all a terrific few months as we head into the middle of the year.
