Good morning,

I’ve got into the settings via LMS in order to enable volume control on Innuos player.
Does this have degradation in sound or effect sound quality using the volume controls this way?
Thanks

Since it is a digital volume control, lowering it can indeed impact performance. For best results its best left at 100% to keep the output Bitperfect, but adjust it at your leisure if you need/prefer.

To echo Dan, adjusting the digital volume would indeed mean its no longer 'bitperfect', though the implications of this are not quite as severe as the perception seems to be. The quality is still very good, and perhaps not a given that a separate preamplifier is automatically better. But in any case, you don't want more than one volume control active within a system at any given time. So if there is another volume control downstream such as a preamplifier, integrated amplifier, active speakers, etc - you probably are best of sticking to those volume controls for simplicity.
Just as an aside, we ran STREAM3 going analogue straight into a pair of powered Avantgarde speakers which would rely on the volume control being used on the Innuos. The results were astoundingly good and no sense of a compromised performance.
