Stay tuned for more! New series of music streamer/servers

Stream1(2TB) with LPS1 ordered! Guess another 4-5 weeks of waiting.

Question - LPS1 second 5V DC connector - what size is it? Would hook a uDDC through it so need to know what type of DC cable to get

Stephen, I appreciate that you have probably been very busy! But did you manage to get round to completing the mega thread or have I missed it? Many thanks in advance.
I'll try to get to this later this week (Munich has rather overshadowed everything - just got back from there last night!) but in the meantime please do share some of your most pressing questions to clarify. It might be more efficient to approach it in a slightly more 'FAQ' way.

Stephen, appreciate this is possibly the busiest period for you and the team. Would you know if the second 5v 1.5A DC output on the LPS1 is 2.5mm or 2.1mm?

This is my first post. I was considering buying a Zenith but now there is a "better" option. So I'm following this blog.

I was wondering if you can hear a difference in sound (quality) with different SDD’s? I’m considering buying a Stream 3 with a 4 or 8TB SDD and want to know if there are differences in sound between SSD’s.

I know between brands and types of SDD’s there can be differents in speed of writing and reading data. But 95% of my music is ripped in WAV (used a Unitiserve) and I have some music in FLAC so I think speed is not an issue.

I have a system: Naim 252 + SC DR, NDX + XPS DR and a Unitiserve 2TB + Melco NA1 2x3TB as backup.
I am considering a Stream 3 with a build in Phoenix dac board or performance dac, so I presume I can stream direct to the preamp 252 and sell the Serve, NDX/XPS.

My questions:
  • Any sound difference SSD’s?
  • Can I use Stream 3 in multiroom with Naim streamers?
  • Difference in quality of sound with Stream 3 and Naim NDX/XPS DR?
  • Can I with the build in dac (Phoenix or Performance) stream directly to the preamp 252?

Hi Bart,

  • To my knowledge there are no differences, however as Stephens mentioned on a previous post, we recommend the WD Red SN700. They have a very good balance of speed, power consumption and longevity.
  • You can use SenseUPnP to play to your other Naim devices, however not simultaneously as the groups function is not available for SenseUPnP and only works with other Innuos systems or Squeezelite compatible streamers. You can get feedback on the best SenseUPnP settings for them over on the SenseUPnP feedback thread as there are plenty of other Naim users there - SenseUPnP Feedback Thread
  • I couldnt give you feedback on this as the Stream 3 is not yet released so I've not heard one myself. This will of course need to be done yourself once your dealer gets their hands on a demo system for you to trial ;). The PhoenixDac will be a noticable performance lift over the Performance Dac however.
  • Yes, you can use the Phoenix Or Performance Dac modules to connect direct to your Nac 252, just use the analogue output to any free input on your system.

Hi 🙂...

I have Zenith mk3 and Phoenix USB-reclocker.

I think all of us (lots of us) would be looking forward to a stand alone DAC,.to be able to connect to the existing InnuOs devices we have.
I myself am looking for a new top-notch DAC today,.and would have bought an InnuOs stand alone DAC immediately if it had been available.

If you are speculating @DanCollier ,.or @Stephen Healy ,is there a possibility that you will release a stand alone DAC for all your previous customers.

Its feedback we've recieved from some users, and something to think about internally. Currently there are no plans for a standalone DAC however with our focus on complete systems (streamer/dacs).

Hi 🙂...
Thanks for the reply.
I understand your current focus,.BUT, there are thousands of ZEN/ZENith units on the market.

Many of these would probably choose an InnuOs standalone DAC,.instead of any other brand.

.Peder, that is quite an assumption - many may already have one of the many external dac.
Of course,.everyone who has an InnuOs streamer has an external DAC.

BUT,.everyone, most people will upgrade their DAC at some point...
And then I think a stand alone DAC from InnuOs would be a good option for many.

Innuos should stay with Steamers and Servers. It’s what they know.
Building a DAC from scratch is throwing good money away, unless they bring in someone with great credentials.

InnuOs has already implemented a few different levels of DAC cards in their new series...
So they are already on track, so to speak.

Yes, but they are not very well reported in reviews (mostly off-the-shelf dac chips), I haven’t read anything that says something like “the buyer should really experience the Innuos in-house dac module” or similar. Or, Innuos’s line of inbuilt dacs are far better / or this holds its own against XX / XY dac.
IMO in the low-level product they might get a few sales but in the higher end Innuos would have to prove to a lot of ppl they have something to offer over the competition. It’s not impossible, but for Innuos, is it worth the time and capital investment?? Only they can know.
