ZenMini Mk3 HDD upgrade question (again, probably)

Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum and have recently purchased a second hand ZenMini Mk3 after a shocker of an experience with a Volumio Rivo.
The ZenMini's previous owner has erased the 2TB HDD so it's completely empty - as my library is around 3TB can I just swap the incumbent drive for a larger one?
I'm picking (hoping) it'll be the usual reformatting process (as per my old Auralic), and after that I can begin to populate the new drive with my music collection.
If anyone has an answer before I blunder into it I'd appreciate it.

Cheers,

Gary

Hi Gary,

No, you cannot remove the the drive and install one of your own on that system, the single drive inside is the boot drive for the OS and your music. Any storage change needs to be done by us in service.
This is changed on new systems as they now allow user upgradable storage as the OS is installed on a small robust SSD directly on the motherboard.

Thanks for that Dan,

I'm glad I asked, my potential DIY effort would have bricked the ZenMini 😳.

I'm in New Zealand so getting it to Europe cost effectively is a tall order, unless there's a local dealer/service agent here I'll use external drives or a NAS.

I'm very impressed with the product, it's extremely rock solid and it sounds great.

Cheers,

Gary

Our Aussie distributor MaxMedia should be fine to help with that if needed, which will certainly help when it comes to shipping!!!
An external drive is not recommended, they will not integrate with your Sense library. A NAS would however. https://innuos.com/kb/music-from-nas-or-shared-folder/

You can find many articles on our support section on using Sense or just general use on your Innuos system.

Thanks again Dan,

Yes I've been using my Synology NAS and it really is quite seamless with the Innuos!
I'll have a think about sending the ZenMini off to Australia for the upgrade but I'll probably also upgrade the NAS to a newer model with double the storage.
I've been around music streamers/servers for years starting with Squeezebox, Roku, Vortexbox, Antipodes, Auralic, Raspberry Pi, Volumio and now Innuos.

I have to say my Innuos is very much the finished article compared with my previous devices - hardware is excellent and the OS is as good as it gets.

Bravo 👏
