Update Caused Issues

This morning I updated my Zen Mk3 to 3.4.2 but the update appears to caused some issues.
After the update I put an album on but was not listening critically as I was busy doing other things but quickly realised something was not right. Bass appeared light and the sound was not enjoyable. Ten seconds of critical listening and I realised the music was running slightly fast. I powered down the Zen and attached Chord Dave Dac.
After this the music was playing at the correct speed and the enjoyment had returned (try listening to Mark Knopfler sped up by 5%!). I put a playlist on. The first track played fine. Then silence. I tried to play various things, radio, different albums and playlists all had the same result. The track playing bar indicated the selected item was playing but no sound emerged as the timer reached 5 seconds before returning to 0 over and over. This was the same via the app and web browser.
I powered everything off. When powering up everything appears to working as it should.
Has anyone else experienced this or have an explanation as to why it occurred?

You are not the first and probably not the last person to have a few glitches and problems after an update.
Strongly recommend a power off shutdown, wait a few minutes and then power on again.
Many processor based units tend to benefit from this and it helps the system to read the new software from startup.
Noticed you did the above and all is good, well done you.
Hope you enjoy the listening!

That is an unusual issue. The update didn’t include any changes related to the player itself, it was mainly a collection of bug fixes for TIDAL and Qobuz, which suggests something else.

Rebooting the system would have restarted the player and reestablished the connection with your DAC, which likely resolved it.

I’m glad to hear it’s now working again.
