Pulse mini input voltage range

Can anyone explain why there is such a large input voltage range on the pulse mini? 9-24v..
I use a supply toward the upper end of the range and it sounds better than one at say 12-16v.
Is it purely for convenience to be able to use a range of supplies.?

It is partly to account for different scenarios. For example, you may have a USB DAC, USB drive for playback, and USB backup drive all connected to a PULSEmini at the same time, each one drawing 5v. This can easily pull another 15+W of current, so the PSU needs to be able to handle this scope of different voltage needs.

I noticed that lps1 lists an output of 19v. I think the output of the lpsu was 16v, and the switching supply packaged up with the pulse mini is 12v. Do these voltages have different impact on the pulse mini performance, keeping in mind the switching supply is inferior for other reasons.

Voltage is only one half of the equation, you need to account for amperage as well. The total current in this case is not related to performance, just to meet the potential power demands. So if we were to compare the PULSEmini versus a Stream1, the Stream1 needs to account for potentially powering an M2 SSD (not a factor for PULSEmini) and also the Digital Output Module stage which can take a variety of output modules with slightly different power requirements (again, not a factor of the PULSEmini).
