NAA Version Update

I mostly use my Innuos Zenith Mk3 as an HQPlayer NAA. I noticed in the HQPlayer log that the NAA is version 4.1.1 which is quite dated (current release is 5.1.3). Are there any plans to update the NAA during a Sense update or is this something that can be requested outside of that? Thanks.

To move from v4 to v5 of HQPlayer requires a whole new Linux kernel, so there's quite a lot more work involved than it appears and requires a whole new suite of testing across other parts of the system. We may well do this one day but would probably need to be part of a bigger 'package' of other features that would also benefit from a kernel update.

I am also using my Zenith MkII SE as an NAA endpoint for HQPlayer4 with a roon library - both on an iMac. BTW, I like the NAA feature. I upsample to DSD, and purchased both the Zenith and my Simaudio Moon 280D DAC because both supported native DSD up to 256. Also, both “Sense” and the DAC’s “Mind” players were Linux systems, although I use neither as players.

The combination of HQP, Zenith and Moon creates s fabulous sound. However, only DSD64 and 128 will play, not DSD256, as promoted. Any help, ideas, solutions will be much appreciated.

This is possibly your DAC? Not that my M4 Pro Mini can support it with my preferred filters/modulators, but I can output DSD1024 from my Zenith Mk3 (into a Holo May DAC) despite DSD512 being advertised as the limit. Unless the mk2 has a limitation?

Thx for jumping in. The HQPlayer is on the iMac, and what I forgot to say was I also have DSD256 local files in my library and they aren’t being upsampled, they just won’t play. Innuos is supposed to play that format, and so is the DAC. Innuos days their system is Linux and so the DAC has to be Linux. Simaudio DAC says their system is Linux. There’s a reason it’s not working, and I’m hoping you or others can help better identify the problem. And maybe have a solution or workaround!

Thanks.

Are you able to play a DSD256 song from your Zenith in Sense when in standalone mode (not NAA)? If so this could be an HQPlayer setting issue.

I don’t use Sense as a player so I’d have to move some files tomorrow to see. I can say when I use the Zenith as a roon endpoint and bridge with HQP uncoupled, it plays DSD256 if pushed to my DAC via ethernet, but via USB only DSD64 and 128 work. In all cases it’s DoP.
