SenseUPnP: Feedback Thread

Thank you Stephen for your considered and diplomatic reply. It seems to me there are two SenseUPNP modes - a pull mode where the Streamer's app is used to select music and play - and there is a push mode where Innuos Sense is used to select music and play it on the streamer. The pull mode works well, the only flaws can be established as missing tracks from Qobuz. It is the push mode that we have problems using, and I thank Innuos for continuing to work towards resolving these.
SenseUPnP is essentially just the 'push' version of what you describe. This is where the UPnP server (the Innuos) forces audio to UPnP receiver via Sense app, which is a reversal of how UPnP is actually meant to work - whereby the UPnP streamer (Naim) 'pulls' from the server using its own app.

Otherwise, the standard and ordinarily expected use of the Innuos is that it is its own standalone streamer/player/server which does not incorporate UPnP at all.

Hi,

Can you please check an LMS setting on your system and whether its set to Persistent or HTTPS Cache mode.
If its set to Persistent, change to HTTPS Cache mode, Save, reboot the system and test please.

To access LMS, you need to use a web browser so this is more easily done on your PC.
On your browser, edit the address bar and add “:9000/default/settings/index.html” to the IP address for your system so it looks like “192.168.1.100:9000/default/settings/index.html” for example.

Navigate to "Advanced", and select "Network" from the drop down menu, and adjust the setting as described above.

Hi Dan, is this for all UPnP players or for certain type specifically?

Well I tried, and no joy with the Oppo, neither in compatibility mode or direct... It keeps losing it and acting erratically. But I moved on. I am very happy with my little Raspberry Pi4 configured as a Squeezelite endpoint with PiCore Player for the Innuos Zenith. Very reliable, flexible and the sound is good as Zenith is the player and the piCore is just a lightweight endpoint connected by USB to the Oppo DAC for my headphones. No more UPnP pain!

If only others would integrate Squeezelite, we'd all be happier!

Dan,

I did the LMS setting change yesterday, but had to reboot the Zen Mini twice - getting a PLAYER CONNECTING message. Finally got it working again today. i tried a couple of Qobuz albums right through and had no issues at all - very positive. i then played to the Naim via digital spdif, and this worked fine also. Looks like the Qobuz issues are resolved. Many thanks for the help.

Thanks Stephen and Dan,
I believe you have found the solution to the skipping tracks problem with Qobuz.
Best regards, Martin
Yes, hopefully this fix persists. As we have mentioned however, UPnP as a whole is inherently inconsistent, so if Naim were to make changes in a future update for example, it could potentially alter behaviour again.
Ideally, these systems would support Squeeze directly for optimal performance, as this would not only offer (likely) improved sound quality, but certainly superior stability and overall playback performance as well.

I had the same on updating to 3.4.3, both Zen and Naim disappeared from my network (BT Smarthub 2), both were disconnected. After I rebooted both, simply switched power off to both and then restarted, they reappeared on the network, and have stayed today so far. It was not until I did the second reboot that I got the message that 3.4.3 was successfully installed, so maybe the usual update process did not work correctly until a second reboot was done - I don't know for sure. Alternatively, perhaps my network was slowing down or had issues during the 3.4.3 install, I don't know. I notice on the Naim form that others have had streamers going missing after 3.4.3 install, but mine at least are now back.

I mentioned this 3.4.3 behaviour in a post under Help today (PLAYER CONNECTING message) related to another issue I have been having both under 3.4.2 and 3.4.3. Dan advised me to put in a support request which I have now done. Rebooting for me seems to have sorted the network issue.

Interesting, I can test when I'm back home as I do actually have a uniti atom he on a short term loan currently.
Id suggest that @madforlad try that also.

I have rebooted twice, sense reports the Zen is on the latest version (3.4.3). So far no luck towards getting this back working. I will try moving the Zen back into the listening room tomorrow where it will be on the same wifi mesh unit as the streamer.

If it is of any help, the LMS upnp/dlna bridge running on the Zen sees the Naim streamer, but Sense does not.

That plugin has not been used for a fair while now, so I would recommend removing it, as unnecessary plugins can sometimes affect the overall experience.

We've replicated this and will investigate into what caused this issue.
Thank you Dan,
I tried moving the Zen back into my listening room and reconnected the Naim streamer ethernet to the streamer ethernet port on the Zen. The Zen does not find the networked streamer when searching.

The Naim streamer sees the WWW through the Zen, and can play music via UPnP from the Zen, so I think the network is all working correctly.
