I’m not a huge podcast listener (life is too short when there’s music, books, cinema, theatre, walking, football etc.) but I welcome the opportunity to listen so easily through the hi-fi without having to use Bluetooth or Airplay. Already found a couple of pods I like to dip into periodically but… it would be useful to understand from where the list of podcasts is sourced so I can understand why some stuff I can find on YouTube and Spotify is available but most is not.

I suspect the main reason is there are actually quite a few podcasts who are exclusive to those platforms, in other words they are not listed anywhere else EXCEPT Spotify or Youtube etc, but let me know if you think that is not the case with the ones you are trying.

Just trying out the improved Podcast feature from the v3.1 update. A bit bewildered that the only way to select podcasts seems to be browsing the directory. No podcast search, or the ability to enter a podcast URL? Am I missing something?
Back to airplay streaming from the Apple Podcasts app for me for now ( via Airplay into my Zen Mini).
Anyone having more success?

You can search for Podcasts via the search (magnifying glass) button in the top right of app or browser.

Thanks for the reply, Dan, but I've already tried that. Even copying and pasting the title of a podcast from the directory into the search box fails to matching search result for me. Is this something I should raise a bug ticket for? I'm using the iOS app on my iPad with a Zen Mini mk3.

Are you able to provide some examples of podcasts you've searched for and can't find? I dont listen to many myself but the ones I do I've managed to find using the search function without issue.

Hi Colin, do make sure it is definitely the searchglass in the top-right corner of the PODCAST context screen, because it will not work if you just use the universal search tab in the bottom-right corner of Sense app. If you can confirm that neither podcasts or radio stations return search results when using the top-right searchglass in their respective context menus then this is something we'll need to look into, as podcast searching is working fine for me.

Confirming search working okay with the top right magnifying glass. I had been using universal search from the tab bar.
I'll raise a feature request for direct entry of podcast URLs, for shows which aren't in the built-in directory.

Many Thanks

Thanks for the response. My main example is one of the few I listen to regularly. It’s a Wrexham AFC podcast and it’s available on Spotify, YouTube, TuneIn and Apple. I can also see it on things like their Facebook page; Acast; Podbay; Pidtail and many others.

Not available to Sense.

Never found a podcast I was looking for via search (top right icon) so I guess that’s it.
Even looking through the lists on my iPhone it it pretty clunky , if you click on one to enquire about it when you return to the list it is scrambled , entries that were there are now missing etc. You have to reload the list to fix entries. So far, it’s a dud for me.
Do Innuos provide feedback to the service you use and can Innuos influence the development? Any chance Innuos could start a poll on what users might want?

Since my last post more podcasts have appeared but there are some very very big omissions still.

For me there are two clear bugs though:
  • search brings up loads of stuff which has nothing but the most tenuous connection to the search words and it does this even when, for example, using search brings up the exact 4 worded podcast you were looking for. If search finds your podcast it should not be finding anything else.
  • trying to do a subsequent search for something else constantly brings up connection errors. That’s becoming more than annoying. There is clearly no connection error as it will eventually search.
