Also, I have a macMini- will sense pick up my cd ripper from the Mac desktop via network Tried directly connecting to the Zen but the Mac super drive was not picked up?

The Super Drive should pick up, but difficult to know the offset value required because they have used different internal optical drives over the years. You could still do the ripping on the Mac and copy the files over, but that would not be optimal
