    Classical Mode: help needed!

Congratulations, Stephen: good to see the work/movement groupings! I wasn't able to see whether there was the ability to see "composers" listed in a similar way to "artists". It would be good not to have to wade through thousands of albums and instead to have an overview of Composers, then...

    Classical Mode: help needed!

Hi Stephen, I really don't see any utility in "Play Disc" at all. Definitely useful to "Play Work" and a general "Play" though.

    Classical Mode: help needed!

The problem with this is that many of us edit our music, moving tracks around in order to free them from the artificial strictures of traditional "Albums" (recordings) and discs. In fact, this is one of the great benefits of digital storage, allowing us to liberate our music from whatever...

Interestingly, Audirvana displays a "Disc" icon for each work in a multi-work recording, so I suspect they've used the disc concept internally to implement the Album/Work/Movement hierarchy.

Personally I would be quite happy to skip the disc tag, since that's purely a limitation of the source medium… However - and it's a big however - track numbering would then be an issue (e.g., track 1 on disc 2 would end up appearing before track 2 on disc 1, and if they're from the same work...

Thanks, Stephen - but I would really urge you to prioritise some of the suggestions, in particular, the folder view and the support for "Work" and "movement" tags. Other software is vastly superior in this respect. Indeed, no less an authority than Stereophile magazine explicitly took you to...

I'm going to have to return my loaned Innuos in the next few days, and will then wait until your iOS app is "Classical Friendly" before considering an actual purchase. Do we have a timeline for progress on the software side please? In the meantime, I'm finding that Audirvana - running on an M4...

    Classical Mode: help needed!

On a completely-different topic, is there any support for saved (PDF) sleeve notes and/or libretti? - I'd like to be able to save my libretti and sleeve notes in the same folder as my "Album" and be able to access them when playing the music. I think this might be of general interest, though...

    Classical Mode: help needed!

I probably ought to note that many "Classical" listeners tend to break up their "Albums" into separate works. Of course, this is less important if the concept of "Work; Movement" exists; but even then, a given recording might contain works by different composers, which we might wish to have...

    Classical Mode: help needed!

Yes, this might help, though it could be overkill in a general case. For example, in my Naim/Minim Server app, when I browse by Artist, the app always uses the same subcategories - Albums, Tracks, Genres… - That might be fine for a very-prolific “Artist” (e.g., Beethoven) but becomes tedious...

Hi Stephen, Thank you so much for your kind consideration, which is greatly appreciated. It is also really nice to see the company actively engaging with its users and responding to feedback: an excellent sign! Thanks also for the tip about editing Artist details in this way (though it would...

    Classical Mode: help needed!

I think we need both:- - Better support for existing metadata tags such as "Composer" - Vastly-better support for browsing by Folder (*) The problem with relying purely on metadata tags is that they simply do not allow sufficient flexbility - as I tried to show in my screen shots. Sure, for...

    Classical Mode: help needed!

Totally agree. And hence my plea to the "Sense" app designers to please make browsing by "Folders" a nicer experience - with full artwork. This then means that we don't have to rely on the limitations of mp3 tags and can instead organise our own music with ease - much as we might rearrange our...

Good points, but re. Renaming, you’d need to add an option to have “Artist” sorted by last name, which I don’t think you have, do you? (I don’t want to have to search for Schubert under F for Franz) The solution is to add a Composer grouping :-)
